Everyone deserves an assistant

I’ve been trying out Sandy, an interesting little (somewhat intelligent) virtual assistant. The account setup is free, and then you get a special email that you can send to Sandy and she will email you reminders and other items that your prompt her to do when you send emails to her or cc her on emails to someone else.

Sandy also connects to Twitter and SMS (phone). I’m a big fan of AI like things so I’m interested in how this app works out. If you are the kind of person who likes to have their own personal assistant..but can’t afford to pay for it, why not give it a try?

I do wonder, if it works well, can I nominate her for an award?/P

  1. And the magic question:

Since I Want Sandy (a GREAT service) ultimately serves as merely a reminder system since “she” can’t actually DO any of your work, should we think of her as a personal assistant, or does she deserve a whole new category?

  2. I might offer the term “virtual assistant”. PDA = Personal Digital Assistant, and they don’t do any of the work for you either.

The main benefit I see is especially for people who use a lot of email. It email more ‘dynamic’ you can evencc Sandy on things and she will try to keep you updated on what she understands you want to do.

Kinda wish I thought of the idea myself actually.
